The Mets drafted Pagan out of high school in Puerto Rico with their 4th round (136th overall) pick in the 1999 amateur draft. He was DFA in January 2006 and his contract was purchased by the Chicago Cubs. After serving as a reserve outfielder for Chicago for two seasons, he was dealt back to the Mets on January 5, 2008 in exchange for OF Corey Coles and RHP Ryan Meyers. Pagan is a native of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. He was dealt to SF on December 7, 2011 in exchange for Andres Torres and Ramon Ramirez.
