William Lamar Beane (born March 29, 1962 in Orlando, Florida) was drafted by the Mets in the 1st round (23rd overall) of the 1980 amateur draft. Beane spent four and a half seasons in the minor leagues before he made his major league debut on September 13, 1984. He only appeared in a total of 13 games as a Met before he was traded to the Twins along with Joe Klink and Bill Latham for Pat Crosby and Tim Teufel. He also played for Detroit and Oakland before he retired in 1989. Currently, Beane is the General Manager of the Oakland A‘s.
