The Mets signed Aldridge to a minor league contract on December 14, 2005. Aldridge was originally a 4th round selection of the Atlanta Braves in 1997. His only major league experience occurred in 2001; he appeared in 8 games with Atlanta after being promoted from AA. In 2005 he hit .271 in 98 games with AA-Wichita (KC) and .195 in 24 games with AAA-Omaha. Aldridge attended Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas.
