The Mets drafted David Wright with a supplemental 1st round pick in the 2001 June draft. Wright is from Chesapeake, VA and grew up watching the Tides. He has been a Mets fan since he was a kid. He is a smart and tough player who has become a perrenial All-Star in the NL. Wright was named to Team USA‘s 2009 World Baseball Classic team.
