The Mets selected Dock with their 5th round pick (164th overall) in the 2008 amateur draft. He played his college ball at Coastal Carolina University, batting .370 with 16 homers and 72 RBIs in 2008. Doyle graduated from Conway High School in his hometown of Conway, SC. He was released on May 30, 2012 upon completion of a 50-game suspension.
