The Mets signed "K-Rod" to a 3-year contract on December 10, 2008. As a 16-year-old, he was signed as an international free agent by the Anaheim Angels. He burst onto the major league scene in September 2002, helping the Angels win the World Series. He set the all-time single season saves record in 2008, nailing down 62 games. Rodriguez is a native of Caracas, Venezuela. He will again represent his country in the 2009 WBC after tossing 3 perfect innings in the 2006 competition.
