Member of the 1986 World Champs. Drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 1st round (12th pick) of the 1979 amateur draft. He was traded on December 7, 1984 by the Detroit Tigers to the Mets for Walt Terrell. HoJo had 3 seasons of 30 HR & 30 SB. He spent 9 seasons with the Mets and was granted free agency on October 26, 1993. The Mets named Hojo their 1B coach for the 2007 season. Hojo was a favorite with the players as the AAA-Tides‘ batting coach, having worked diligently with David Wright and his teammates for a couple of years running. Johnson also spent time as a manager in the Mets system and has carved a relationship as Ken Oberkfell‘s sidekick in helping the Mets top prospects develop into winners.
