The Mets signed Bay to a 4-year deal on January 5, 2010. He was riginally drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 22nd round of the 2000 amateur draft out of Gonzaga University. He briefly spent time in the Mets season after being acquired for Lou Collier in March 2002. He was shipped to San Diego 3 months later for Steve Reed and Jason Middlebrook. A year later the Padres dealt Oliver Perez and him to Pittsburgh for Brian Giles. He won the 2004 NL Rookie of the Year Award and is a 3-time All-Star. Bay is a native of Trail, British Columbia.
