The Mets selected Lujan from the Chicago White Sox during the 2009 Rule V Draft. He was originally tabbed by the Texas Rangers in the 15th round of the 2004 amateur draft. He pitched at New Mexico Junior College and graduated from University High School in his hometown of Waco, Texas.
