The Mets signed Livan to a minor league contract on February 14, 2009. He was originally signed by the Florida Marlins in 1996 out of Villa Clara, Cuba. He won a World Series with the Marlins in 1997, and has since played for the Giants, Expos/Nats, Diamondbacks, Twins, and Rockies.
