The Mets signed R.A. Dickey to a minor league contract on December 23, 2009. Dickey, who is missing an ulnar collateral ligament, was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 1st round of the 1996 amateur draft out of the University of Tennessee. After struggling with the Rangers, Dickey adopted a knuckleball in 2005. He has since reemerged as a knuckleballer pitching with the Mariners and Twins. After a breakout 2010 campaign, the Mets rewarded him with an extension on January 31, 2011. Dickey is a native of Nashville, Tennessee.

Contract/Options Status: Signing Bonus: $1M | 2011: $2.25M | 2012: $4.25M | 2013: $5M club option or $300K buyout
