The Mets signed Ramon Castro to a minor league contract on December 23, 2004. He was drafted by the Astros in the 1st round (17th overall) of the 1994 amateur draft. He was acquired by the Marlins on July 3, 1998 in exchange for Jay Powell. He made his major league debut in 1999 and is a native of Veracruz, Mexico. Castro was traded to the Chicago White Sox on May 29, 2009 in exchange for Lance Broadway.
