Trachsel was signed by the Mets as a free agent on December 11th, 2000, after 8 big league seasons with the Cubs, Devil Rays and Blue Jays. After a brief minor league assignment in 2000, Trachsel has been one of the most consistent and effective pitchers in the National League. Trachsel was placed on the 60-day DL on March 31, 2005 with a herniated disk. His 2006 campaign was a success in terms of wins - 15 - but he posted his third worst ERA of his career. Steve left the Mets as a free agent after the 2006 season.
