Vince Coleman :: OF
1985 - 1997 | B: B | T: R | HT: 6-0 | WT: 185 | DOB: 9/22/1961

Vince Coleman is from Jacksonville FL USA. A ridiculously prolific base-stealer, and a multi-year All Star, the Mets signed Vince as a Free Agent on December 5, 1990. Known for his blazing speed, Vince would spend three years with the Mets, predominently in the lead-off slot in the lineup. His time with the Mets was storied, however, as injuries limited his speed and stolen base totals. He engendered trouble in the clubhouse, as well, by disrespecting the legacy of Jackie Robinson in 1991 when he stated, "I don‘t know nothing about no Jackie Robinson." Then, in 1993, while swinging a golf club in the clubhouse, he injured Dwight Gooden‘s arm. That incident was soon followed by a distrubing fireworks incident during which he threw a lit firecracker into the stands, injuring three young children. He was suspended for the rest of the season, and traded to the Royals for Kevin McReynolds at the end of the season.
