We all know the beginning of spring training unoffically starts with pitchers and catchers. But the games unofficially start with the first intrasquad game and today, NYFS was there for all the action with photos, video clips, and radar gun reports! Jon Niese had a great inning. He threw approximately 13 pitches ranging from 72 mph (curveball) to 92 mph (fastball). Niese threw consitently in the low 90s with the heater. VIDEO: Jon Niese Windup Bobby Parnell also had a great inning throwing approximately 18 pitches ranging from 78mph to 97mph. Parnell threw consistently around 90. He got nicked by Jose Reyes and Angel Pagan and a D-Wright RBI ground out before getting out of the inning. VIDEO: Bobby Parnell Windup Duaner Sanchez threw 26 pitches ranging from 74mph to 90mph (once). Sanchez consistently threw in his fast ball at 87/88. He looked good out there in his first action after missing all of last year recovering from his shoulder/taxicab injury. Though a little erratic, it wasn't too bad at all. Sanchez struck out Fernando Martinez. VIDEO: Sanchez strikes out Fernando Joe Smith threw approximately 16 pitches ranging from 76mph to 94mph (once). Smith consistently threw around 90. He was a bit wild inside, causing a lot of movement from the batter to avoid being hit. Robinson Cancel did get plunked with a breaking ball. Smith gave up a triple to Reyes, walked Pagan, and struck out Wright. VIDEO: Joe Smith fans D-Wright Juan Padilla threw approximately 8 pitches very consistently in the low 80s range. His slowest pitch was 76mph, and his fastest pitch was 85mph. Steven Register threw approximately 11 pitches with the slowest pitch speed at 82, and the fastest at 91mph. Six of his pitches were between 90mph and 91mph. Adam Bostick threw approximately 10 pitches, ranging from 67mph (in warmup) to 90mph (once). Four of his pitches were 89mph. He nearly plunked Schneider in the face with a hanger that didn't break. Andy Cavazos threw approximately 31 pitches in thge high 80s. Most of his pitches were either 87mph or 88mph. He didn't throw much offspeed stuff. Joselo Diaz was impressive oppoing 92/93 consistently on the gun and showing a 10mph differential with his offspeed pitch.
