Marlon Anderson got a rehab start playing LF for St. Lucie in the first game of yesterdays double header. Anderson went 0-3 with a walk in four at bats, batting leadoff and playing left field. The Mets placed Marlon on the 15 day disabled list with a strained at the beginning of August. It was the second time this season he was on the DL with hamstring related injuries. Anderson has hit .222/.259/.294 in 126 at-bats for the Mets this year, primarily as a lefthanded pinch hitter. The Mets are not expected to activate him until after rosters expand on September first. The Mets signed IF/OF Marlon Anderson to a minor league contract on July 12, 2007. Anderson first played for the Mets in 2005 after signing a minor league deal on December 23, 2004. Anderson, 33, appeared in 123 games with the Mets in 2005, and batted .264 (62-235) with nine doubles, seven home runs, 19 RBI, 31 runs scored and six stolen bases. He left the Mets after 2005 for the Washington Nationals when the Nationals offered him a two year deal. He was acquired by the Dodgers along with cash considerations on August 31, 2006. In 134 games combined with the Nationals and Dodgers in 2006, he hit .297 (83-279) with 16 doubles, 12 home runs, 38 RBI, 43 runs scored and four stolen bases. He played his first five seasons in the majors with the Phillies before joining the Devil Rays for a season. In 2004, he was a member of the National League Champion St. Louis Cardinals.
