The Mets offense had 10 hits and drew 6 walks, while going a pathetic 2 for 16 (.125) with RISP, and leaving 10 on base. Ruben Tejada (0 for 4, RBI (39), BB, .282) and Josh Thole (0 for 5, RBI (45), .328) took 0-fers, while Jose Coronado, Shawn Bowman, Caleb Stewart and DJ Wabick all had multi hit games.

FSL A+: St. Lucie 12/12/2, Fort Myers 2/9/3

Kirk Nieuwenhuis is just absolutely en fuego right now atop the Mets lineup, and the rest of them aren't doing so bad, either. The Mets have now scored 92 runs in their last 13 games, going 9-4 over that span. Nieuwenhuis had the only multi hit game tonight, but it was a doozy, with 3 more XBH, including his league leading 16th homer, and 31st, and 32nd double. Nieuwenhuis now has his batting average up to .270, roughly 3 weeks ago, it stood in the mid .240s, he has done some monumental heavy lifting in the last month. The Mets hammered out 12 hits, while also walking 9 times, and were 7 for 18 (.389) with RISP, while leaving 10 on base.

Scott Moviel was the beneficiary of the outburst tonight, he had a so so outing, with just 4 hits allowed over 5 innings, though he walked 4, he also struck out 8. Josh Stinson bounced back off a dreadful outing, working the final 2 innings for his 4th save (Mets put up 7 in the 9th).

cf Kirk Nieuwenhuis 4 for 5, 3 runs, 2 2b (32), HR (16), 2 RBI (68), BB, .270 (.340/.404/.681/1.085, 32 for 94, 19 runs, 10 2b, 2 3b, 6 HR, 22 RBI, 9/16 BB/K in August...WOW - oh yeah, his last 10 games? Think of what you can do in a video game...now triple it. Nieuwenhuis' last 10 games: 21 for 43 (.488), 13 runs, 8 2b, 2 3b, 6 HR, 17 RBI, 6/9 BB/K, .488/.551/1.186/1.737). Two 3 hit games, Two 4 hit games, and two 2 hit games.

Brad Burns got a spot start tonight and was extremely ineffective, giving up 4 runs (2 earned, Jefry Marte's 49th error) on 4 hits and 2 walks in 3 innings for his 2nd loss. Sam Martinez and John Church finished out the game.

The Gnats offense had 8 hits and 2 walks, while going 1 for 4 with RISP and leaving 5 on base. Wilmer Flores, Eric Campbell (0 for 2, 2 BBs, .251), and Joey August 0 for 4, K, .212) took 0-fers, while Jefry Marte and Raul Reyes had multi hit games.

NYPL A-: Brooklyn 6/7/0, Vermont 7/8/2

Michael Powers had an incredibly rough outing tonight, giving up 4 hits and a walk, along with 4 runs, turning a 6-3 Cyclones lead into a 7-6 Lake Monster victory. Darin Gorski started the game and was decent, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk in 6 innings, and was in line for the win, before Powers implosion.

The Cyclones certainly did their fare share of hitting (and walking) with 7 hits and 7 walks, while going just 2 for 11 (.182) with RISP and leaving 8 on base. Richard Lucas and Luis Rivera had multi hit games, while Sam Honeck (0 for 4, BB, K, .259), Scott Grimes (0 for 2, RBI, 2 BBs, 2 Ks, .190), Dock Doyle (0 for 2, run, 2 BBs, K, .243), and John Servidio (0 for 3, K, .188) all took 0-fers.

APPY R: Kingsport 3/5/1, Bristol 4/6/8 (EIGHT!)

Yohan Almonte had his second best Appy League outing of the season, allowing just 3 hits and 2 runs in 6 innings, while striking out 8, but it was all for naught after Julio Bello blew the save by allowing a run in the 7th inning. Jonathan White then completed the disaster by allowing a run in the 8th to lose the game.

The Mets had 5 hits, along with 8 Bristol errors, but they went just 1 for 8 (.125) with RISP and left 7 on base. Pedro Zapata (2) had the only multi hit game, while Darrell Ceciliani (0 for 3, K, .234, SB (13)), Jeff Flagg (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .294), Cesar Puello (0 for 4, K, .266, CS (3)), Juan Torres (0 for 4, .326) and Luis Nieves (0 for 3, RBI (6), K, .273, E (5)) all took 0-fers.
