March 4, 2010 -
David Wright, Ike Davis, and Gary Matthews homered as the Mets beat the Cards 17-11. Photos from Spring Training include Wright and Jason Bay's first game as a Met. The Mets offense was in midseason form, posting 17 runs on 14 hits. They had considerable help from Cardinals pitchers who gave up 10 walks, but the Mets cashed in. Ike Davis impressed again, hitting a grand slam to put the game away. In the early going the Mets probable regulars sans Jose Reyes posted a 3 spot in the first inning, with Gary Matthews and Luis Castillo getting on and David Wright starting his spring with a blast to right. Knuckleballer RA Dickey started for the Mets and was dealing smoothly until the third when the wheels fell off and he let up five runs. Tobi Stoner came in and finished the inning, going a strong 2.1 innings, alowing only a solo homer and working his way out of Dickey's jam. BOXSCORE
