Mets Designate Schmoll for Assignment

The Mets announced today that they have designated RHP Steve Schmoll for assignment. The Mets needed to open a roster spot for RHP Marcos Carvajal who had been claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Schmoll, a side-arming reliever, was 5-4 with a 4.69 ERA in 42 games with the Norfolk Tides last season. Schmoll is the third Met to be designated for assignment in the last three weeks, joining RHP Jason Standridge and 2B Ruben Gotay.
